About Max

  • Current Age: 4 Years 3 Months (best estimate)

I'm Max. I know a lot of you are thinking, "I wish that there was a dog out there that has experienced 2 years' worth of food in 6 months", and I'm here to make your wish come true! I had a tough start in life and was brought into AARF as a starving boy last year, but I've certainly made up for lost kibble. All those extra love handles aside, I am a great 4yo boy. I am friendly and polite to every dog I meet, even when they're not so friendly.

I am gentle when I wrestle with humans, and totally fine with hands in my food bowl, although I don't really like when other dogs come near my food. I have moderately good recall off leash, but my nose likes to take me to distant lands in my brain where I am not able to hear my name being called. I won't run when you come to snap me out of my sniffing adventure. I am very capable of learning, but right now I only know sit. I am learning "get out of the kitchen" and "leave the cat alone" and "no way dude, off the bed". I go to work with my foster mom every day and am a perfect office dog. I tend to pull on a leash, but only because I'm so desperate to get my summer body in gear in time for bikini season.

Things I'm working on: I think the world will end while I'm in a car, I'm sure of it. So I try to tell everyone about the imminent danger. I seem to forget about the danger BEFORE I get in the car though, because I joyfully hurl my chunkitude into the car when asked. Speaking of danger: have you guys heard of "cats"? The one in my house is particularly devious, I hear her crafting her schemes to take over the world. I know the only choice is to eat her, but will they let me?! NO! If you also believe cats rule and dogs drool, I might not be the best fit. My foster mom has threatened to boot me into the next universe if I don't leave "her poor precious baby" alone, but this is for the good of humanity.

My foster mom says I'm pretty much ready to go to any possible home that doesn't have delicious evil cats and who are interested in hearing my Ted talk about the dangers of car rides.
